Lydus is an immense spiritual world, also known as the "Astral sea" that would be best described as an endless grey ocean where every material and spiritual worlds are like islands. Lydus is nowhere and anywhere. It's the place by which a person can travel from a place to another in one instant even if they are physically situated at the other end of the universe. When you take a portal, you actually travel through Lydus. If the portal works well, you don't even realize it. If you are unfortunate enough to use a a defective portal ( an extremely rare occurrence ) you would end up as a stranded traveller in Lydus, lost in the middle of that ocean

Lydus can be a pretty dangerous place, but it's not so bad if you know it well enough. It looks an endless grey sea of flat water, that is somehow walkable. The sky is perpetually illumated by countless lights

Distance is a very abstract concept in Lydus though, and the experienced traveller will soon learn to use their thoughts in order to go aorund, rather than their "spirtual" legs -

interesting to note that two physically very far away worlds can somehow be very "close" in Lydus

It's like an endless and infinite ocean. strange sea where you walk on the water that is solid enough to support you. You can, at will plunge under but that' where the dangers lies

The more you go down, the more dangerous it becomes.
