Danger : Normal
Sub zones : great ascarlin mines, great diamond mines
Inhabitants : rock harpies, humans, earth mouths

Standing as one the highest points of the region of the map, these majestic moutains are a great place to get a glimpse of a large portion of the surrounding lands. Ascarlin moutains are famous for their wide variety of rocks and minerals and, obviously, for their huge deposit of Ascarlin.

Ascarlin, also called dreamstone, is an extremely rare gem, immensely sought. A single ascarlin is easily worth dozen diamonds and empires have declared war on each others for just a handful of it. The stone is of a deep semi-translucent teal-blue with red veins runnin through it. It's incredibly beautiful and, socketed in magical artefacts, it can increase tenfold their power.

Ascarlin moutains are legendary on some worlds, and their name are often even more renowned than Felarya itself. They attract many people from foreign worlds and are the base of the power of the great Negav city next to them. The moutains are riddled by mines, tunnels and troglodytic cities.

Despite the intense human activity inside, the exterior of the moutains is surprisingly void of any trace of civilisation. few predators live around but they are dangerous. Rock harpies in particular pose an enormous threat to reckless miners, with their huge appetite and fearsome wind-based magic,

Great diamond mines

Danger : Low
Inhabitants : under construction

Great ascarlin mines

Danger : Hazardous
Inhabitants : silver succubi, fire succubi, various demons ( slave imp, taskmaster, cerberus ), earth elementals, night anemones, shadow fishes, glophorbias

At first sight, this immense network of tunnels is brimming with activity. Miners, Negavian guards, adventurers from every worlds, merchants, wizards are gathered there, chatting, forming plans, buying artefacts... But once you goes past the magical wards, to the deeper sections where lies the ascarlin, the activity suddenly decreases dramatically.

Only solid teams of miners dare to venture there. It's not rare to have them hire powerful wizards and mighty mercnaries along the way to escort them. In their frenzy to extract the precious gem, humans have digged too far and caught the attention of many strange and very dangerous creatures dwelling in the depths. Since then, innumerable miners have become preys to them.

Some demonic monsters roam the deeper parts of the mine and, sometimes, a whole tunnel will suddenly turn to flesh, becoming the digestive track of an earth elemental and trapping the miners inside..

At first, the ubearable heat of the deeper tunnels was thought to be due to volcanic activity yet there is no lava, tremors, or any normal signs of it. The sweltering atmosphear may come instead from an open portal to a place of extreme heat..
